This role is classified as Level 6 Business Support role under SBS Australia's current Enterprise Agreement (with a base salary range of $126,040 - $149,824). The successful applicant will be offered remuneration that is commensurate with their skills and experience and in alignment with this framework.

The Role

The Cyber Security Engineer plays a key role in the management, deployment, and automation of security technologies across the organisation. This role focuses on Elasticsearch, Velociraptor, CrowdStrike EDR, AWS security, Microsoft 365 Security, and automation. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in developing security automation solutions using Python, BASH, and PowerShell to enhance security posture and streamline security operations.

This role supports security monitoring, incident response, and threat hunting through effective management of the Elastic Stack, CrowdStrike Falcon EDR, and AWS/Microsoft security environments.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Expertise in managing and deploying CrowdStrike Falcon EDR (policy tuning, threat response, automation).
  • Experience in developing automation using CrowdStrike APIs, RTR scripting, and Falcon platform tools.
  • Proficiency in managing Elasticsearch and Elastic Stack components (Elastic Agent, SIEM integrations, Kibana).
  • Experience deploying and managing Velociraptor for forensic investigations and threat hunting.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, BASH, and PowerShell.
  • Deep understanding of AWS security services (GuardDuty, Security Hub, IAM, CloudTrail, etc.).
  • Experience managing security in Microsoft 365 and EntraID environments.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ASD Essential 8, and MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Ability to build security detections, alerts, and automation in SIEM solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to security automation projects.
  • Certification in Elasticsearch (Elastic Certified Engineer or Analyst) Desirable
  • SANS GCFA (Certified Forensic Analyst) or similar security certification. Desirable
  • Experience with Power Automate for security workflow automation. Desirable
  • Experience with network security and firewall management. Desirable    
  • Experience working in a Security Operations Centre (SOC) environment. Desirable
